Manus - Experimental Game Design
"Please don't ask about the egg"
Role: Designer, all-round assistance
About projectManus (or Manus - the Hand of Dirk) was created as part of the experimental games design course during my time as a student. The aim was to create a game using anything but conventional input methods. The result was a convoluted but fun game about bluffing which ran on a beamer stacked on top of a set of boxes, controlled with a Leap Motion and a Peregrine (glove with connector plates).
Using the Leap Motion, players would position tiles on a board or reveal previously placed tiles. Players would select specific tiles to place using the Peregrine by touching the tip of their thumb with various other fingertips. In order to obfuscate their actions, players were encouraged to hide this hand behind their backs. |
Individual roleDuring this project I acted as an all-round resource, initially setting up the design together with two other colleagues and eventually moving on to help out with asset creation and implementation.
