Procedural Landscape in Houdini
About projectArguably more programming than art, this landscape was created as part of my training in the use of SideFX Houdini, a program used for creating procedures. The goal was to create a landscape with a road, various temples, rope bridges and vegetation. Each asset was to have several parameters to use as customization tools, resulting in temples scaling in size and amount of supporting columns, rope bridges hanging lower depending on their length and the landscape adapting to the position of the road and temples. As an addition, I created an aqueduct with simulated water running through it.
Through the creation of this landscape I learned much about working with Houdini, creating procedural tools and assets, creating and using VOPSOP networks within Houdini's node system in order to optimize performance and creating realistic fluid simulations based on particle positions. |
